Syllabus

This unit offers an introduction to key epochs and themes of human history focusing on human interaction with the environment. The World Heritage List is used as a device to examine how place and landscape embody memory and cultural heritage significance for different communities.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit the student will be able to:

1. identify major epochs and themes in human history and the places that represent them;

2. analyse concepts of cultural heritage significance;

3. compare a range of approaches to world history.
