Syllabus
This unit introduces the core graphic design concepts and principles, skills and technology required for professional graphic design practice. Through a mix of research, theory and project work, students engage in a highly practical program of study focused on the development of a fundamental graphic design literacy and competency.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit will, student will be able to:
1. Apply the basic elements and principles of graphic design;
2. Demonstrate an applied understanding of core graphic design techniques including typography, iconography, composition, and image-making;
3. Understand and apply fundamental concepts for screen and print;
4. Demonstrate a foundational competency in graphic design technology; and
5. Conduct research and analysis, and clearly communicate a rationale for design decisions.
