Syllabus
In this unit students will be introduced to the principles of the triple bottom line of social, economic and ecological sustainability. Initially students will examine ways in which they can lead more sustainable lifestyles. The methods by which community development and community education can facilitate change towards sustainability will be applied in a small local sustainability project proposal. The unit is a compulsory part of: the major and minor in Community Development and the minor and major in Sustainability.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of current sustainability issues, policies and programs;
2. Reflect on personal and systemic implications of social, economic and ecological sustainability; and
3. Develop competence in collaborative problem solving approaches to complex sustainability issues.
