Syllabus
This unit is designed to develop an understanding of and ability to apply project evaluation techniques to management decision-making. Topics covered include evaluation frameworks, decision criteria, valuation techniques, distributional analysis, environmental impact assessment and ethics. The unit is oriented to the practical issues of project appraisal in the context of private and public decision-making.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Explain and assess the theory and practice of project evaluation;
2. Demonstrate an understanding of cost benefit analysis;
3. Apply the techniques covered in the unit with an understanding of a set of evaluation concepts;
4. Demonstrate an increased awareness of current affairs and their critical implications regarding resource allocation; and
5. Show a developed ability to solve problems in most workplaces.
